The game has now changed, the standard for Star Wars content has been risen, and no longer can Disney and Modern Lucasfilm hide behind mediocre fan service with overall subpar quality. This show was everything I've been waiting for from this franchise for a long time, and I have so much to say about it.
First of all, the production value in this show is insane. They took the grit and realism of Rogue One's visual style and managed to match it flawlessly, like they actually went outside of that green screen stage of theirs and they got to shoot on location and it just feels so much more authentic. "When I revisited the original Star Wars movies recently, one thing struck me: growing up, I guess I always believed the various footsoldiers and X-Wing pilots and generals who helped to stop The Empire were just 'professional Rebels' trained and raised since childhood to fight evil. The Rebel Alliance in the Original Trilogy feels like it’s been running like a well-oiled machine as long as there’s been an Empire to oppose. What Andor dares to ask is, 'who are these people, anyway? Where do they come from? What have they lost? Do they have families? What would catalyze someone to join an organized group of perceived extremists?' Andor, then, is a story about radicalization. It’s about characters who were previously disengaged learning to care about something and make a stand for it, even risking loss of life."

• Just shockingly, astoundingly good given the circumstances. Gilroy took one of the least-interesting characters from one of the most frustratingly-compromised entries in a franchise that has come to be defined by dumb compromises and used him as an excuse to build a genuinely insightful meditation on life under fascism in the form of an extended riff on LES MISERABLES broken into three high-concept genre* exercises. I can't believe I'm writing any of this! The middle prison arc alone is the best two-hour standalone STAR WARS film of the past 43 years. I fully realize how crazy this sounds.

So, ich habe nun also "Andor" von der ersten bis zur letzten Folge durchgebingt und würde jetzt gerne originell sein. Aber "leider" kann ich nur in den Chor aller Fans einstimmen: "Andor" ist die beste Star Wars Serie und lässt sogar einige Star Wars Filme alt aussehen.
Bei meiner Besprechung der ersten drei Folgen habe ich mir folgende Frage gestellt:
Star Wars ohne Jedis, ohne Lichtschwerter, ohne Sith, ohne kindischen Humor, ohne "lustige" Sidekicks, ohne die Musik von John Williams, ohne die Familie Skywalker, ohne märchenhafte Magie - kann das funktionieren?
Und ich würde diese Frage mit einem eindeutigen Ja beantworten, auch nachdem ich nun endlich die komplette erste Staffel gesehen habe.
